I've been on a serious R&B kick as of late and it feels good! Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank, collectively known as TGT, released their debut album last month and I'm so glad I got hip! All three artists are known for their individual hits including Pony, Sweet Lady and Maybe I Deserve.
It's 19 tracks of R&B in its purest form, from ballads to bedroom tracks; it's all there! The chemistry amongst these guys is organic and the album is a reflection of that. The guys say that their main goal was to put out a body of work of true R&B with less rap features and more singing. I'm a sucker for a great singing/rap collaboration, but it's refreshing to see TGT go back to the basics and do what they're known for doing in the first place.
My current jams:
- I Need
- Take It Wrong (feat. Black-Ty)
- No Fun (feat. Problem)
- Weekend Love
This is definitely an album for the R&B lover. It's very reminiscent of the late 90s-early 2000s era of R&B when male groups were a commodity, not to mention that all three artists were making classic records individually during that time.
