Aussie recently released their Miracle Curls line and I picked up the majority of the collection. CurlBox had 6 out of the 7 products from the line for $10, so I took advantage of the sale.
Note: The collection is sold out on CurlBox.com.
I’ve been using Aussie since 2010 so I’m no stranger to their products. I’ve been using the 3-Minute Miracle Deep conditioner and Hair Insurance Leave-In spray conditioner since I had relaxed hair in 2010 and my natural hair loves it too. The thing I love about Aussie is the bright purple packaging, the affordability of their products and the moisture it gives my hair.
The Miracle Curls line has 7 products:
· 3-Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner
· Leave-In Detangling Milk (This is the only product I don't have.)
Based on the packaging and product descriptions, they highlight the jojoba oil and coconut oil as the main ingredients in the collection.
I stopped using coconut oil by itself a few years ago because my hair wasn’t getting the moisture it needed. If it’s mixed with other oils and moisturizing agents, it works better for me. My hair absolutely loves jojoba oil so I was excited to see that on the ingredient list.
This was my first time using a shampoo from Aussie and it left my hair feeling cleansed. The shampoo contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate so I was shocked that my scalp didn’t feel stripped, but I definitely had to put the moisture back into my strands with the conditioner.
The conditioner and deep conditioner both had a lot of slip, which helped me detangle my hair with ease. I let both conditioners sit in my hair for a little bit to help loosen up tangles and it did just that.
Overall, the products did a good job. My hair was easy to detangle and moisturized. In addition to the jojoba oil, I personally would like to see Aussie add more nourishing oils to the line in place of the coconut oil. Argan oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, grape seed oil or avocado oil would all be awesome additions to this line. I also think the shampoo would’ve been much better if it was sulfate-free. It would’ve done an awesome job with moisturizing and detangling the hair sans sulfate. Curly girls need more 2-in-1 sulfate-free shampoos! I also loved the packaging. It came in the signature purple bottle and I love that the deep conditioner comes in a bottle with a pump. It’s easy to work with and it’ll prevent you from wasting product.
I give the line a B+, only because I wish they added more oils to the ingredient list and made the shampoo sulfate-free.
P.S. For those of you who don't like sulfates or coconut oil, Aussie’s Mega Moist conditioner and 3-Minute Moist Deep Conditioner is an awesome substitute. They contain jojoba oil and aloe and have tons of slip and moisture.
I’ll be using the Co-Wash and Nourishing Mask on my next wash day. I think I may attempt to use the Crème Pudding for a wash and go or twist out once the weather warms up too.
